I am an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
I run the Systems Neuroscience and Neuromorphic Engineering Lab.
I received my Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science with distinction from the University of Madras in 2000,
and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from Texas A&M University in 2003 and 2005, respectively. Following
my graduate studies, I recieved a prestigious NIH/NIST joint post-doctoral fellowship award from the National Research Council (National Academies).
At the National Institutes of Health, I spent four years working with Dr. Mark Stopfer on biological olfaction.
In parallel, collaborating with Dr. Steve Semancik at NIST, I worked on developing
neuromorphic chemical sensing approaches using MEMS-based sensor arrays (popularly referred to as 'e-nose'), and its application in security and medical diagnostics domains.
My research interests include systems neuroscience, sensor-based machine olfaction, machine learning, biomedical intelligent systems, dynamical systems and more recently biorobotics.
I am looking for promising postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students to join my lab.
